Three Faces of Fibromyalgia Fatigue
The last two days have been spent in semi-consciousness, between long lengths of sleep and short gaps of wakefulness. I am on an extended trip to La-La Land. Going bowling for my son’s birthday on Sunday was most likely the precursor. I woke up Monday morning extremely stiff and could feel pain in parts of my body I did not even know existed! It had been worth it to spend family time with my sons but now I am saturated by the consequences. Now, I am just so completely and utterly fatigued.
Fatigue is defined as “weariness from bodily or mental exertion.” But, how do you define the fatigue of Fibromyalgia? It is not normal, “oops I over did it” fatigue, it is pervasive and insistent and it has many manifestations. I am a tad neurotic and like to label things, it helps me feel in control and to understand a situation or emotion better -including the way I experience fatigue. So, I have broken it down into 3 categories.
