Fibromyalgia drug gets OK

A woman who said she suffered from fibromyalgia for years finally found relief from the painful condition after a specialist put her on a new type of medication in a clinical trial back in 2006.

Claudia Patterson, of Charles Town, said she first began experiencing uncomfortable symptoms shortly after putting her mother in a nursing home three years ago.

“She has Alzheimer’s disease, and I was caring for her daily and running, running, running,” 56-year-old Patterson said. “I felt very tired and achy. I just thought that having a real job, a part-time job and getting older were all situations that totally explained my symptoms.”
